MASPALOMAS DUNES

The area includes the Natural Reserve of the Dunes of Maspalomas, which constitutes the main landmark of Gran Canaria. The large sand dunes of Maspalomas are very popular for sunbathers soaking up the great Canarian sun and those looking for a fun walk or should I say climb up and down the stunning dunes.

Just a few metres from the promenade, bathers and walkers dive into the sand which marks the start of the Maspalomas Natural Dune Reserve, made up of three eco-systems: Palmeral, Charca and Dunas (Palms, Pond and Dunes) which run in parallel a few metres from the sea. The whole area is an enormous, exceptionally valuable natural space.

WE VISITED THE MOST FAMOUS TURIST BEACH OF MASPALOMAS ON THE SOUTH

Maspalomas is part of the Maspalomas - Costa Canaria tourist town, an area commonly referred as Maspalomas (a concept known by locals as el Sur, meaning the South) which also includes the nearby town of San AgustínPlaya del Inglés and Meloneras. Located on the southernmost tip of Gran Canaria, it is the largest tourist town in the Canary Islands. Maspalomas is part of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
