Our Comenius Project / Akşemsettin Primary School

Bilindiği üzere, okulumuzda 2013 yılından beri heyecanla gerçekleştirmekte olduğumuz bir projemiz var.  Projemiz ‘itsaboutusitsabouteurope’ bir ‘Comenius Okul Ortaklıkları’ projesi. Comenius projeleri,Avrupa Birliği’nin desteğiyle yapılan, AB ülkeleri ve AB’ye girmeye aday olan ülkelerin de katılımıyla gerçekleştirilen, tüm harcamaların AB tarafından karşılandığı projelerdir.

İki yıllık projemiz süresince, proje ortaklarımız olan Slovenya,Slovakya, İtalya ve İspanya ile sürekli iletişim halindeydik ve bu ülkeleri ziyaret etme şansımız oldu. Biz de bu ülkelerin proje ekiplerini ülkemizde zevkle ağırladık.Tüm proje ortakları diğer ortak ülkelerin tarihi,coğrafyası, kültür ve gelenekleri hakkında bilgi sahibi oldu.Yurtdışına gidemeyen öğrenciler, veliler ve öğretmenler blog sayfamızdan, panolarımızdan ve düzenlemiş olduğumuz ‘Comenius Günü’ ve ‘Avrupa Günü’ gibi etkinliklerimiz aracılığıyla ortak ülkeler ve Avrupa hakkında bilgi sahibi oldular.Hepimiz için çok keyifli bir süreçti.Yeni projelere başlangıç yapabilmek dileğiyle…

We've   Continuously been in contact with our project partners Slovenia, Slovakia, Italy and Spain during our two-year-project, and we had the opportunity to visit these countries. Also, we are welcomed by the Project teams pleasure of these countries. All the partners could get some information about the history, geography, culture and traditions of other partners. The students, parents and   teachers who were not able to go abroad could get some information about our partner Countries and Europe through our blogs page, wall panels and the 'Comenius Day' and 'Europe Day' we've arranged. SOME IMPRESSIONS OF OUR FIRST COMENIUS EXPERIENCE

Trabajando con Europa: “It’s about US, it’s about EUROPE”

Un acercamiento al Proyecto COMENIUS del IES El Batán.

Durante los dos últimos curso en el IES El Batán hemos desarrollado el proyecto COMENIUS, el cual nos ha llevado a trabajar de forma colaborativa y transversal sobre lo que significa Europa y ser europeo.

Este tipo de trabajos, que van más allá de nuestras fronteras, surgen de la necesidad de conocer otras realidades educativas de las que puedan aprender profesores y alumnos, y así mejorar su labor académica diaria.

El proyecto tiene como objetivos la educación en el concepto de una auténtica ciudadanía europea y los retos que esto supone. Aprovechando que el año 2013 fue el año de la ciudadanía europea, y haciendo uso del marco común de referencia europeo, hemos trabajado durante dos cursos con el alumnado para que sean conscientes de su realidad como ciudadanos europeos.

Este trabajo conjunto parte de la visita preparatoria a Eslovenia a la que fuimos invitados en enero de 2013 y en la que entramos en contacto con el resto de centros educativos del proyecto. En ella, diseñamos nuestro plan de trabajo a desarrollar durante los cursos 2013-2014 y 2014-2015. Nuestros socios en este sueño de acercar Europa a nuestros alumnos han sido: Základnáskolaen Kosice (Eslovaquia), Aksemsettin en Estambul (Turquía), Istituto Comprensivo Giuliano Giorgi en Montorio Romano (Italia) y Osnovna sola en Zetale  (Eslovenia).

Las diferentes visitas que hemos realizado a los países integrantes de este proyecto nos han llevado a conocer otras realidades educativas, más allá de nuestra realidad canaria. Y así hemos podido trabajar, convivir y compartir experiencias tanto alumnos como profesores de diferentes países.

En noviembre de 2013 visitamos Eslovaquia junto con el resto de centros participantes, donde pudimos apreciar las costumbres del país, e integrarnos en el trabajo diario de alumnos y profesores de Záklanáskola. Fue el inicio de nuestro periplo por Europa. Una primera experiencia magnífica, pues fuimos acogidos muy cálidamente, a pesar del frío otoño eslovaco. Recordamos la tranquilidad de las clases, la simpatía de alumnos y profesores, el buen hacer de la coordinadora eslovaca, así como la exigencia por el trabajo bien hecho.

En febrero de 2014 recibimos a nuestros colegas europeos en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Fue una semana llena de actividades académicas, culturales y, también lúdicas. Destacamos la colaboración de los compañeros del instituto, así como del alumnado que se esforzaron para que la estancia de nuestros compañeros de proyecto fuera lo más grata posible. Nuestra ciudad y nuestra isla desplegó su encanto para darse a conocer a estos visitantes. Quedaron impresionados por nuestro paisaje lleno de contrastes, las montañas volcánicas y las playas de arena blanca a tan pocos kilómetros de distancia, así como por la variación de climas. El amplio océano Atlántico los acogió en pleno febrero (algo impensable en sus países de origen) y pudieron disfrutar de un día espléndido de playa, sol y mar en Maspalomas. Por otro lado, fueron recibidos por las autoridades de nuestra capital y visitaron el barrio de Vegueta ye l auditorio Alfredo Kraus, pasearon por Las Canteras e hicieron compras por Triana… Se despidieron de nuestra isla con el deseo de volver, conmovidos por nuestras bellezas naturales y la gentileza de los canarios.

En mayo fuimos recibidos en el centro turco Aksemsettin. Es increíble el gran esfuerzo del profesorado en centros tan masificados. El buen hacer de nuestros compañeros hizo de nuestra estancia un verdadero placer. Estambul es una ciudad llena de encanto e historia, donde pudimos apreciar la convivencia respetuosa entre diversas culturas. Algo que verdaderamente nos impresionó, pues es una lección de civismo.

En noviembre de 2014 el proyecto Comenius nos llevó a visitar Montorio Romano. Nuestros colegas italianos se esmeraron en planificar una visita llena de actividades y trabajo. Fue una experiencia inolvidable. En esos días desarrollamos talleres y actividades en los pueblos de esa zona, siendo acogidos siempre con mucha simpatía por los profesores, alumnos y padres. Destacamos la gran colaboración de las familias en el desarrollo de las actividades planificadas. En este viaje, por supuesto, no pudo faltar una excursión a Roma. Visitamos los Museos Vaticanos, El Coliseo, el Foro, la Via del Corso, la Piazza Navona, la Piazza del Popolo y un recorrido panorámico por la ciudad. Nos despedimos de Italia impresionados por el buen trabajo que en esos pequeños pueblos desarrollan nuestros colegas.

En mayo de 2015 visitamos Eslovenia y pusimos el broche final con las actividades que el equipo de docentes eslovenos nos tenía preparadas. La coordinadora eslovena organizó una conferencia con un miembro del Parlamento Europeo y embajador de Eslovaquia y Eslovenia. Los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de hacer preguntas para obtener más información "de primera mano acerca del funcionamiento del Parlamento Europeo. Visitamos el Parlamento, el Palacio del Presidente de Eslovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, la cueva Postojna, la capital, Liubliana, el castillo de Ptuj y realizamos talleres aprendiendo costumbres, folclore, arte y cultura. Sin ninguna duda podemos afirmar que la experiencia ha sido muy enriquecedora tanto para los profesores participantes, como para el alumnado, pues hemos podido asomarnos a otros modelos educativos, conocer otras manera de trabajo en el aula y fuera de ella, convivir con otras culturas y acercarnos a la organización y gestión de diferentes tipos de centros.

Esperamos que nuestra buena experiencia sirva para animar a otros compañeros a realizar proyectos de este tipo. Hemos aprendido y compartido mucho, y aunque este tipo de trabajos son exigentes, pues requieren de mucho tiempo y dedicación, es verdad que son muy satisfactorios, no solo a nivel profesional, sino también a nivel humano.

Working with Europe: "It's about us, it's about EUROPE"

An approach to the Comenius Project IES El Batan.

During the last two course in the IES El Batan have developed the Comenius project, which has led us to work collaboratively and transversely on what Europe means and being European.

This type of work, beyond our borders, arise from the need to meet other educational realities that teachers and students can learn, and improve their daily academic work.

The project aims education on the concept of a real European citizenship and the challenges this presents. Taking advantage of the year 2013 was the year of European citizenship, and making use of the common European framework, we worked for two courses with students to make them aware of their reality as European citizens.
This joint work of the preparatory visit to Slovenia to which we were invited in January 2013 and which came into contact with other schools in the project. Here, we design our work plan to be developed during the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 courses. Our partners in this dream of bringing Europe closer to our students were: Základnáskolaen Kosice (Slovakia), Aksemsettin in Istanbul (Turkey), Istituto Comprehensive Giuliano Giorgi in Montorio Romano (Italy) and one in Žetale Osnovna (Slovenia).

The different visits we have made to the countries of this project have led us to meet other educational realities, beyond our Canarian reality. And so we've been able to work, live and share experiences both students and teachers from different countries.

In November 2013 we visited Slovakia along with other participating centers, where we saw the customs of the country and integrate into the daily work of students and teachers Záklanáskola. It was the start of our tour of Europe. A first great experience, as we were welcomed very warmly, despite the cold autumn Slovak. Remember the tranquility of the classes, the sympathy of students and teachers, the good work of the Slovak coordinator, and the requirement for a job well done.

In February 2014 we welcome our European colleagues in Las Palmas. It was a week full of academic, cultural activities and also playful. We emphasize the collaboration of colleagues at the institute, as well as the students who struggled to make the stay of our project partners were as pleasant as possible. Our city and our island charm to be deployed to meet these visitors. They were impressed by our landscape full of contrasts, volcanic mountains and white sand beaches so few kilometers away, as well as by varying climates. The wide Atlantic Ocean welcomed them in the February (something unthinkable in their country of origin) and enjoyed a splendid day at the beach, sun and sea in Maspalomas. On the other hand, were received by the authorities of our capital and visited the neighborhood of Vegueta e l auditorium Alfredo Kraus, walked through Las Canteras and shopped for Triana ... They said goodbye to our island with the desire to return, moved by our natural beauty and gentleness of canaries.

In May we were met at the Turkish Aksemsettin center. It's amazing the hard work of teachers in centers so overcrowded. The good work of our colleagues made our stay a real pleasure. Istanbul is a city full of charm and history, where we could appreciate the respectful coexistence among different cultures. Something that really impressed us, it is a civics lesson.

In November 2014 the Comenius project took us to visit Montorio Romano. Our Italian colleagues took pains to plan a visit full of activities and work. It was an unforgettable experience. In those days we develop workshops and activities in the villages of that area, and always greeted with much sympathy for teachers, students and parents. We emphasize the great collaboration of families in the development of the planned activities. On this trip, of course, he could not miss a trip to Rome. We visited the Vatican Museums, the Colosseum, the Forum, Via del Corso, Piazza Navona, Piazza del Popolo and a panoramic city tour. We said goodbye to Italy impressed by the good work in those small towns develop our colleagues.

In May 2015 we visited Slovenia and put the finishing touch to the activities that the team of Slovenian teachers had us prepared. The Slovenian coordinator organized a conference with a member of the European Parliament and the Ambassador of Slovakia in Slovenia. Students had the opportunity to ask for more information "first hand" the functioning of the European Parliament. We visited the Slovenian parliament, the palace of President of Slovenia Mr. Borut Pahor, the Postojna Cave, the capital Ljubljana, Ptuj Castle and conduct workshops to learn customs, folklore, art and culture. Without a doubt we can say that the experience has been very enriching for both the participating teachers and for students. Well, we could peek into other education models, other ways to work in the classroom and beyond, live with other cultures and get closer to the organization and management of different types of centers.

We hope our good experience will serve to encourage other members to make such projects. We have learned much and shared, and although this type of work is demanding, requiring much time and dedication, it is true that they are very successful, not only professionally, but also on a human level.

At the end of the the project.

Dear Project partners and schools!

It was January 2013. Very cold and a lot of snow. 5 coordinators David from las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain, Burcu from Istanbul, Turkey,  Mariangela from Montorio Romano, Italy, Adriana from Košice, Slovakia and me from Žetale, Slovenia meet in Žetale and decided to create a Comenisu school project. We worked very hard  on the aplication form  for 4 days  and we have been successful in the selection. 2013  was the year of “Europien citizenship” so We choose the name of our project: “It’s about us! It’s about Europe!” We were thinking:  If we want our students understand where they come from and who they are, they have to understand who their partners are and where they come from. Every day through radio, TV, newspapers our students hear disturbing information that EU is in trouble, the best example are the events in Greece and England. Do we really face the risk of disintegration? Can we live in harmony despite the current economic complications and crises? How much do our students actually know about EU? What do they know about individual countries, their geography, history, childrens rights, basic words and phrases? What can they expect as members of the EU from it? How do our students in visage EU if they are regularly informed only about troubles. We want to focus on the information that is true and relevant.We guess that all of us do not know much about EU, therefore, we decided to disseminate the European horizon, during the project activities. Every child has rights, no matter what country they’re from, no matter how old they are, no matter if they’re a boy or a girl. Even though every child has rights, these rights are violated every day. We have used Common Framework for Europe Competence (CFEC) in order to help our students become informed European citizens. Over the course of two years, we have concentrated our efforts on developing the social and civic competences, having a better knowledge of some other countries and different cultures through the students’ work, geography, human rights, videos, photos, and visiting the partners’ countries. This is a great enrichment of all the school communities. We all are very happy and proud to be part of this Comenius programme in these two years. We have developed a sense of being an important part of a team, and members of a big “European Country”, all equal, but definitely not the same….We want to thank our National Agencies from Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain and Turkey, and the European Commission of Comenius Programmes for providing an opportunity to take part in this amazing adventure, to meet new colleagues, new friendships, gain new educational experiences and share all the knowledge. It is the best way to improve, by working all together as an important part of a big project. We can only say a BIG THANK YOU. We are at the end. The project was so full of work, pleasure and interests that it was a wonderful experience for all the participants. New born friendships, the chances to communicate in foreign languages and learn about partners countries, schools, customs and ways of life are the benefits of this project that we all know how to value. Saying farewell to our partners does not make us feel sad because we are sure to meet again. Our project has ended, but its benefits will forever remain in our work and life. Dear partners and friends, see you soon on another occasion!

IT’S ABOUT US IT’S ABOUT EUROPE: RIGUARDA NOI, RIGUARDA L’EUROPA.

Questo titolo ci porta direttamente al progetto Comenius che ha visto il nostro istituto coinvolto negli anni scolastici 2013-2015.

Ci accingiamo a tirare le somme di questo biennio di attività molto intensa che ci ha visto partecipi e protagonisti in Europa, insieme con la Slovenia, la Slovacchia, la Spagna e la Turchia.

Il tutto è cominciato nell’inverno del 2013, quando i coordinatori del progetto si sono incontrati in Slovenia per stilare il progetto stesso.

Nel luglio dello stesso anno il nostro Dirigente Scolastico, Mariangela Francucci, ci ha informati che il progetto era stato approvato e che quindi il nostro piccolo istituto di provincia si sarebbe affacciato all’Europa.

Tante paure e timori ci hanno assaliti, non ci sentivamo pronti.  Saremo stati in grado di rappresentare il nostro paese, l’ Italia, in Europa? Una scuola di provincia, insegnanti precari, tante diversità tra plesso e plesso e ordini di scuola?

Ebbene sìi, siamo partiti per questa grande avventura chiamata Europa.

Da settembre 2013, tutti i docenti e tutti gli alunni, di ogni plesso e ordine di scuola, hanno cominciato ad appassionarsi a questo nuovo progetto. All’inizio è non è stato facile riuscire a coinvolgere tutti, molti di noi non sembravano interessati o mostravano delle reticenze, ma la macchina era partita e tutti sono saliti a bordo, pronti per il nuovo viaggio.

Un viaggio che non sapevamo dove ci avrebbe portato, che cosa ci avrebbe dato, quali esperienze avremmo vissuto…ma come dice Machado “il viaggio si fa andando” r noi siamo partiti.

La prima mobilità in Slovacchia ha rappresentato un momento di non ritorno, un viaggio pieno di sorprese e ricco di avventure. I pianti a casa per la nostra assenza, i brontolii dei colleghi che dovevano sostituirci e preparare lavoretti, gadgets e altro per ben rappresentarci.

I nostri ragazzi per la prima volta in aereo, all’estero, ospiti  in famiglie che non conoscevamo, con abitudini differenti.

Il paragone continuo con i nostri edifici scolastici, purtroppo di gran lunga inferiori, una grande amarezza quando giunti nella scuola slovacca ci siamo fermate davanti alle finestre del dentista, che era lì, all’interno della scuola per curare i denti degli alunni; e pensare che noi non abbiamo neanche il medico scolastico.

L’accoglienza fatta in un’aula magna con palco, che sogno, anche noi vorremmo avere tutto questo!!!

La seconda mobilità si è svolta nel febbraio 2014, a Gran Canaria, e anche qui scuola super, ricca di spazi, laboratori, aula magna, palestra e campi sportivi. Anche qui i nostri ragazzi sono stati ospitati da famiglie locali e hanno mostrato di essere all’altezza della scelta effettuata, hanno saputo comportarsi decorosamente mostrandosi aperti e responsabili.

La terza mobilità si è svolta ad Istanbul, in Turchia, dove abbiamo creduto opportuno non portare con noi i ragazzi in quanto la scuola si trovava nella parte asiatica e noi saremmo state nella parte europea della città. Qui abbiamo toccato con mano la storia che abbiamo studiato sui libri di scuola, abbiamo respirato cultura e tradizioni diverse dalle nostre. Anche qui la scuola, seppur ubicata in un vecchio edificio, ha rappresentato per noi tanta amarezza con i continui  paragoni continui con la nostra, dove non ci sono aule magne, nessun palco per recite e rappresentazioni di vario genere, nessuno spazio idoneo per favorire l’attività sportiva.

 Ad ottobre 2014 abbiamo ospitato tutti i nostri partners europei a casa nostra, cercando di mostrare ciò che abbiamo di più caro e storicamente e culturalmente importante. Le nostre scuole non hanno né gli spazi né le strutture che avevamo invidiato alle scuole precedentemente visitate, ma abbiamo utilizzato le risorse che da sempre connotano la scuola italiana e che nonostante tutto la rendono una delle migliori al mondo:creativtà, competenza, impegno. Abbiamo organizzato laboratori, di pittura e di cucina. Pasta e pane, come da migliore tradizione italiana.  rappresentato un fattore positivo in termini di strutture e spazi ma il nostro calore, la nostra ospitalità e la nostra storia ci hanno aiutato molto.  Abbiamo sfruttato la nostra risorsa più importante,  l’ambiente verde e protetto che ci circonda, facendo escursioni , manifestazioni e giochi all’aperto. Abbiamo organizzato spettacoli dentro le nostre scuole coinvolgendo gli alunni di tutte le età che hanno esibito non solo l’istrionismo italiano ma la sottesa preparazione  artistica, musicale e teatrale che è risultato di una grande preparazione professionale. E poi  l’aiuto più importante, la nostra storia, dal castello di Nerola a Villa d’Este di Tivoli ,alle ricchezze di Roma, condito dai nostri piatti tipici, locali e nazionali, il nostro calore e la nostra ospitalità.

Infine siamo partiti per la Slovenia, in un piccolo paesino che ci ha accolto con tanto affetto. Anche qui la scuola era eccezionale, tanto spazio per i ragazzi, arredi nuovi, aule spaziose e luminose, un parco esterno organizzato per ogni attività sportiva: pallavolo, pallacanestro…

Anche qui le visite culturali hanno avuto un peso importante; i nostri ragazzi sono stati ospitati presso famiglie locali ed hanno avuto riscontri molto positivi dal punto di vista culturale e linguistico.

Cosa abbiamo ricevuto come docenti?

Abbiamo visto nuovi metodi di insegnamento-apprendimento, basati maggiormente sull’aspetto pratico e laboratoriale, di qui riflettuto sulla nostra didattica orientandoci  di più sui gruppi di lavoro e sul cooperative learning. Non a caso il nostro Dirigente Scolastico ha organizzato un corso per tutti i docenti al fine di comprendere questa nuova metodologia ancora poco conosciuta da alcuni e poco adottata da altri. Dal punto di vista linguistico abbiamo capito che si deve dare maggiormente spazio all’operatività della lingua, facendo dialoghi, dibattiti, guardando films e ascoltando musica. Certamente noi non abbiamo né i laboratori né gli strumenti necessari per svolgere tali attività ma ci siamo resi conto che riusciamo con poco a raggiungere tanto perché tutti i docenti del nostro Istituto si mostrano sempre disponibili e collaborativi e con la nostra buona volontà sopperiamo alle mancanze strutturali che purtroppo non dipendono da noi, come abbiamo dimostrato nella settimana in cui abbiamo ospitato.

Cosa hanno ricevuto i nostri studenti?

Hanno conosciuto nuovi paesi, nuove lingue e nuove culture, hanno potuto confrontarsi con coetanei di altri paesi europei, hanno vissuto con loro esperienze indimenticabili. Si sono sentiti studenti europei.

Lavorando per raggiungere i diversi obiettivi stabiliti dal progetto stesso hanno affinato delle conoscenze sull’Europa e sui paesi appartenenti al progetto,ma non solo, hanno approfondito lo studio della musica imparando gli inni d’Europa suonando il flauto e cantando la canzone del progetto nelle differenti lingue del partneriato, hanno affinato le loro competenze artistiche preparando disegni e libri illustrati da portare in dono ai nostri partners europei, realizzando il logo vincitore del progetto.Hanno riflettuto sull’idea dei Europa, ne hanno conosciuto l’origine storica e mitologica, i progetti, i valori su cui si fonda, i problemi e le prospettive future.

Hanno potenziato le competenze digitali pubblicando sul blog foto e video, realizzando i differenti video pubblicati, creando varie e numerose pubblicazioni in ppt per far conoscere la nostra scuola, i nostri tre paesi, la nostra nazione Italia, la nostra religione e le differenti attività didattiche.

A livello linguistico hanno potenziato l’utilizzo delle lingue inglese e spagnola, ospitando ed essendo ospitati, ma anche creando gruppi su social network a cui hanno aderito liberamente senza alcun suggerimento da parte degli insegnanti.

A livello sociale? Abbiamo tutti amici europei con i quali abbiamo stretto rapporti durevoli che nessuno e niente potranno cancellare, tutti quanti noi ricorderemo i nostri amici Comenius e da grandi i nostri alunni diranno ai loro figli “lo sai io ho degli amici in Slovacchia, in Slovenia, in Spagna e in Turchia”; “quando ero a scuola ho incontrato ragazzi e insegnanti stranieri, sono venuti nella mia scuola, a casa mia e io sono andato a casa loro” e racconteranno storie, episodi, trasmettendo , con leggerezza, valori e sogni  dell’Europa….

Ci sarà ancora? Sarà diversa? Avrà cambiato nome? Per ora noi sentiamo di appartenere a questo vecchio continente ricco di storia e cultura. Come i Romani di tutto l’Impero ,con orgoglio ma anche sicurezza ed appartenenza  amavano dire, con Cicerone  “Civis romanus sum”, con gli sessi sentimenti , noi ci diciamo cittadini d’Europa.

Thanks to Silvestra Klemenčič, Tanja Nikolovski, Petra Fošnarič, Saša Peršoh, Lidija Šešerko, Marjana Pernat, Valerija Krivec, Marija Skok and Marta Trafela we felt really welcome and very well taken care of. TURKISH TEAM THANKS

Hi, everybody in the project! It's been 3 weeks since we've returned home from Slovenia, with highly memorable memories from the mobility. As the Turkish team, we'll never forget the time we spent in Slovenia. Our housekeepers welcomed us perfectly;every activity was planned to include all the guests in. The parents worked well to host us, to make us delicious food. And, the students behaved well and responsibly. The shows entertained us. The Mayor hosted us kindly, and we even visited the Slovenian Parliament and the President's office. The natural and historical places attracted us very much. In short, Slovenian Team did everything to make us feel ourselves important. Thanks Slovenia.
